In this mini series, thick layers of black, white and yellow ochre paint surround the white PVC bears. The expressive paint strokes create a story board for each canvas. The tight movements of the brush strokes evoke a sense of a journey being had by the bear, symbolic of the journey the artist had themselves creating these pieces. Each bear is posed inquisitively, as if searching for something out in the distance, like a new purpose or direction to grow in? Combine with the abstract-expressionist stokes of paint, the viewer is pulled into the journey that the artist is embarking in, internally from novice/child to master/adult.
